A Commissioner Built for the Fight Ahead

Douglas County is heading into a pivotal 2026 election, and with Commissioner Abe Laydon term-limited, District 1 needs someone who isn’t just checking boxes or rehearsing talking points. We need someone who understands this county, its people, its values, and the very real culture-war pressures being shoved onto us from every direction.
I’ve had the chance to sit down with Jake Bockenfeld and hear him speak on a couple of occasions. And let me put it plainly, in a state where “conservative” often gets watered down, Jake has the makings of the real deal. Solid. Steady. Substantive. A man who actually listens before he speaks, rare enough these days to qualify as a superpower.
Now, before rumors start flying, I’m not issuing endorsements or planting flags. What I am saying is this: Douglas County deserves leaders with a spine, clarity, and conviction, and Jake checks those boxes. I’d strongly encourage you to dig in, meet him, hear him out, and decide for yourself. My bet? You’ll come away impressed.
He’ll be out across the county over the next year, show up, shake his hand, and ask the hard questions.
