Well, if we ever needed a clearer example of why Steve Peck should have been tossed out on his ear as the DCGOP Chairman sooner rather than later, here it is, served up on a platter of pure incompetence. My fellow Republicans, gather round for a tale of neglect so glaring, it almost feels like a bad joke.
Recently, our beloved Chairman Peck decided unilaterally to skip out on convening a vacancy meeting to fill the open county commissioner position left by Lora Thomas. This wasn’t just a minor oversight; it was a full-blown surrender of our party’s power and influence directly into the hands of the Democrats and Governor Polis, yes, those same Denver and Boulder Democrats who’d love nothing more than to see our conservative stronghold of Douglas County crumble.
What was the result? Oh, nothing much, just Polis swooping in to appoint an interim commissioner. Thanks to Chairman Peck’s staggering lapse in judgment, we missed a critical opportunity to assert our local GOP control and keep those left-leaning vultures out of our business. Instead, Peck gift-wrapped our influence and handed it over, no strings attached.
Now, let’s talk about the cost of this debacle. By effectively handing the keys of the GOP Douglas County kingdom over to the opposition, Peck has not only undermined our presence in local government but also set a dangerous precedent that signals weakness and disarray within our ranks. Every day that goes by with this kind of leadership, we lose ground, we lose credibility, and, let’s be frank, we lose the very elections that should be ours for the taking, like HD 43.
The failure to hold a simple vacancy meeting within the required 10 days is not just an gross error, it’s a betrayal of every Douglas County Republican’s trust. It screams that our supposed leader is either woefully unprepared or blatantly unwilling to fight for our rightful place at the table. And let me be crystal clear: this isn’t just about filling a seat temporarily; it’s about who holds the power to shape our community’s future.
Folks, as we stand on the brink of future GOP elections, each decision, each seat, and each missed opportunity can sway the balance of power. It’s high time we demand accountability from Steve Peck. We need to remind him—and if necessary, replace him—that his job is to safeguard our values and assert our influence, not surrender it to the highest bidder on the left.
So, join me, will you? Let’s tell Chairman Peck that we see through the excuses, and we're not buying what he’s selling. Our response must be swift and decisive. Rally behind the resolution of censure and make your voices heard loud and clear: We refuse to sit back and let the Denver Democrats—or our own failing leadership—decide our fate. Together, we’ll reinforce a Republican Party in Douglas County that’s as strong and principled as the people it represents. No more excuses, no more Peck!
