The Real Skinny on Facebook Private Groups: Not Your Grandma's Public Square

Oh boy, where do I start with this one? Let's break it down, shall we?

So, you're telling me that some people are upset because they didn’t get a post approved, were not allowed in, or, the inconceivable, got kicked out of a private Facebook group? Gasp—the horror!

Let's get one thing straight, folks. A private Facebook group is essentially a space for like-minded individuals who want to hang out with folks of the same values and principles. It's not the public square where you can just spout off whatever nonsense pops into your head (and nonsense is being kind).

If the group's vibe doesn’t jive with you, here's a wild idea: leave! It's not rocket science, people. And if you're stirring the pot and find yourself booted, maybe it's time for some self-reflection on where your proper place is in the universe.

Now, I hear the whispers: "But wait, isn’t this a violation of my free speech?" Puh-lease! I personally have been banned from Facebook Groups like "Weld County GOP Form", for questioning their policies. I am limited to one post daily on a Douglas County Facebook Group, "Elephants in the Room". That is just the way it goes, people. Get over it!

Facebook is a private entity, not a government. If you don't like it, you're free to take your grievances elsewhere. The internet is vast and teeming with platforms eager for your diatribes and comments that no one cares about. You might want to try "Rocky Mountain Voice," they have some fairly loose standards in their commentary section.

In the immortal words of a very wise unknown philosopher, "If you don’t like it, don’t let the door hit you on the way out." So, to all butthurt folks out there, take your complaints and threats (oh yes, your threats) somewhere else. Believe me, my shoulder is not what you want to cry on.

Remember, we’re still in a free country, but that freedom comes with the understanding that not every space has to be your soapbox. In the realm of Facebook Private Groups, it’s by invitation only. Don’t like it? Well, that’s what the ‘create group’ button is for.

"If you're not happy here, you can leave."
