ACCOUNTABILITY!

We speak a lot about Unity, and it is incredibly important during the legislative session and during the general election that we work together against the Democrats. We have another important tool though that is also equally important and the role of the party.
It’s one word I love and most politicians hate.
That word is ACCOUNTABILITY.
Accountability to our principles, accountability to the voters is just as important as Unity.
We actually lost more Republican Registered Voters in this county when Republican Sheriff Tony Spurlock supported gun control than we did with Trump and Jan 6th.
Republicans vote Republican for a reason, when they feel there is no difference on their key issues then our voters stop voting. Holding Republicans accountable to our voters and our platform is just as important as unity during the General Election.
Accountability is more important than ever with Open Primaries.
With open Primaries we now have Republicans in primary elections who market and appeal as much to non Republicans as they do to Republicans.
In fact in 2022 it was the the strategy of the Democratic Party to have no primaries in as many areas as possible so Democratic leaning Unaffiliateds would vote in Republican Primaries.
Non Republicans are selecting our candidates. Left leaning Unaffiliateds are selecting our candidates.
This means that the temptation to stray from the platform and appeal to Center Left Unaffiliateds is great for well funded Republican campaigns.
Without accountability, without strong candidates that paint in bold colors instead of pale pastels we will continue to lose and slide further into the minority like another formerly Red state, California.
The open primary is designed to achieve this outcome and even accelerate it as we saw in California. If we don’t hold Republican politicians accountable to the platform, to the voters, and to our principles then Colorado will stay a 1 party state for the foreseeable future and our voters will move or quit showing up to the polls.ACCOUNTABILITY
