Dear fellow Colorado State Central Committee Members

This letter went out to the SCC today from former State Representative Tim Leonard, Jefferson County SCC member

Dear fellow Colorado State Central Committee Members,

Unfortunately, the divisive actions of only a few Colorado Republicans have not yet ceased their planned disruptions timed ahead of our primaries. Instead of refocusing on pushing our selected candidates forward and promoting our great Republican principles with the voters, they are continuing the circular firing squad and hypocrisy of “uniting while dividing".

You have probably read in ColoradoPolitics, as did I, that on Thurs 26 June, Todd Watkins of El Paso County submitted a list of 112 names to the State GOP Party for the purpose of calling a SCC meeting to oust the State Chair. Immediately after the National Convention, two months before the General Election, and six months before another election of a State Chair.

With no candidates offered as substitutes and no game plan on how to benefit the Colorado Republican Party, the action is clearly just an imprudent reaction.

However, the matter of petition integrity has now become an issue. The list submitted has no actual signatures, no email confirmations, no SCC member verifications, no dates, no petition title, nor an affidavit of proper collection and chain of custody.

So former State Senator Ted Harvey and I submitted today a formal challenge to the integrity of the submitted petition.

Please see the attached here Controversy Complaint in accordance with the SCC Bylaws.

Please allow me to remind you that the Jefferson County Republicans and their elected SCC members did not initiate this divisive petition effort. In fact, only 2 of the 25 Jeffco SCC members joined this list, and the Jeffco Chair was disciplined, censured, and required to cease all activity related to this non-productive effort.

Sen. Harvey’s and my intention is to have the submitted list of names declared invalid for all the reasons we state in the Complaint, and hopefully this will end a controversy that never should have been started in the first place. Of course, we are a free people and any SCC member can restart a new waste of time and energy rather than keep our focus on the prize of winning Republicans into positions of elected office.

We shall see what the State Executive Committee determines.

Thank you for all your energy and effort to promote and defend our liberties!

Thanks,

Tim

Jefferson County SCC
