SHOCK OF 2024 COLO ELECTION SEASON DEFEAT OF RINOS’ PROP 131

The surprise of the fall elections in Colorado was the clear defeat of Prop 131 by 10 points. Prop 131 would have essentially gotten rid of the political parties in Colorado by doing away with party primaries and replacing them with jungle primaries where anyone would get on the ballot with suNicient signatures. At the primary the top four vote getters would go on to a four-person general election with rank choice voting. The proponents claim it would get rid of “extreme” candidates (i.e. those with principles) and favor moderates. This appealed to “old guard” RINO Republicans in Colorado who find themselves unpopular within the Republican party as they are not really Republicans but advocates of a Uniparty run by Democrats with Democrat cultural values. Republican supporters of 131 included Trump hater Dick Wadhams, former chair of the State party: fellow Trump hater and mayor of Auora Mike CoNman; former Congressman and certified nut job Ken Buck; Weld County’s State Senator Barbara Kirkmeyer; and former Secretary of State Wayne Williams. In the media the biggest advocate was Independence Institute president Jon Caldara. Since there is nothing straight about Caldara these days, he claimed in the various billionaire Phil Anschutz outlets that he was not endorsing Prop 131 but rather describing its many wonderful attributes since in his opinion Prop 131 could not possibly lose at the ballot box. He asserted that Prop 131 would put to an end people like Republican Party chair Dave Williams and his “gay flag burning, Trump worshipping, pro-life conservatives.” To Caldara the passage of Prop 131 would lead to a Democrat Uniparty that he and the Independence Institute have been secretly fighting for - for decades. Jon Caldara It is not hard to understand why Caldara thought that the fix was in as the proponents of Prop 131 had raised almost $15 million for flyers and slick television ads while the opponents had almost no money. Huge money beats no money almost every time in politics but not this time. Voters got it for some reason that Prop 131 would ensure that only the very rich or those backed by the very rich could run for political oNice in Colorado What in the world will Anschutz, Thiry and Caldara do now that Prop 131 failed so badly. Well, it’s back to the drawing board to come up with new ideas to get the citizenry of Colorado to screw themselves in favor of the very rich and the very left wing.
