“Sour Grapes and Sunken Ships: Todd Watkins’s Titanic Temper Tantrum”

In the wake of Todd Watkins’s latest lamentation, where he plays the part of a political prophet foretelling the doom of Colorado’s Republican Party, you’d think the GOP had just boarded the Titanic. Alas, Watkins’s melodramatic rant is more akin to an overblown soap opera than serious political commentary. Far from leading us into the frozen abyss, Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dave Williams is navigating us into a future where grassroots conservatives can actually be heard rather than endlessly lectured. Something the Establishment and RINOs do very well, such as lecturing, I’ll give them that.

Let’s be honest, Todd Watkins and his cronies attempted a coup against Williams in a desperate bid to claim power, because it is always about power or money. Shockingly enough, the coup failed, like Watkins’s own aspirations for the El Paso GOP Chair. Now, all he has left is to publish a piece that’s about as credible as the “Great Biden Economy.” Pretending he’s the victim of some devious, far-right conspiracy, Watkins spins fairy tales about a party that can’t walk straight without tripping over its own feet. In reality, the Colorado GOP under Dave Williams has embraced the concept of accountability, transparency, and (brace yourself) actual conservative principles.

Yet Watkins would have us believe Williams’s leadership is an iceberg, an existential threat to the entire party. But if you peel back the melodrama, you find that Watkins’s sour grapes are likely just that: sour. His attempt to oust Williams from the state chairmanship was greeted by a hearty round of yawns, and his predictions for a pending GOP apocalypse feel more like a personal grudge than sound analysis.

Under Dave Williams, the state GOP is championing the values that matter most to grassroots Coloradans, like safeguarding individual liberty, promoting fiscal responsibility, and standing tall for constitutional rights. If that means challenging career politicians or stepping on a few establishment toes, so be it. This is a movement fueled by everyday citizens, not by self-styled political saviors nursing bruised egos. Just look at the recent GOP re-organizational meetings and the elections to the SCC for the next 2 years, the people have spoken!

So, while Todd Watkins howls about impending disaster, the rest of us are rolling up our sleeves. The real story is one of a revitalized Colorado GOP, ready to fight for the issues that everyday families care about. Watkins’s so-called revelations are just a pity party for a leader who tried and failed to seize control. So go ahead, enjoy the show, folks. Todd can keep wailing about imaginary icebergs; we’re too busy charting a bold conservative course for Colorado’s future, without the dead weight.
