TABOR Under Siege - Special Session or Special SCAM

Well, good conservative Patriots, it’s that time again. Colorado’s political elite are warming up their taxpayer-funded espresso machines, sharpening their lobbyist back-scratchers, and whispering the magic words: special session. That’s right. The governor and his merry band of bureaucrats are floating the idea of calling lawmakers back to the Gold Dome, not because they’re suddenly feeling generous with your money, but because they’re trying to find creative new ways to take more of it.
Let me translate their doublespeak for you. They’re saying, “We need a special session to fix things.” What they really mean is, “We need a special session to raid the TABOR cookie jar before you notice it's missing.”
If you've got a job, a mortgage, and a shred of sanity, TABOR, the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, is probably the only thing standing between you and possible financial ruin. TABOR forces the state to ask permission before raising your taxes and requires excess revenue to be returned to you, the people who actually earned it. So naturally, Colorado’s ruling Democrats and some of our loyal RINO Republicans hate it. Their workaround now is “FEES”.
Supposedly, the state’s Medicaid and reinsurance programs could face funding cuts. Now, I don’t know about you, but the last time the government cried “budget shortfall,” it somehow ended with more taxes, fewer services, and plenty of new commissions studying “equity-based composting.”
They’re also talking about artificial intelligence regulation, because what better way to distract from looting TABOR than by pretending you're saving us from Skynet? But don’t be fooled: if AI regulation really needed urgent action, they wouldn’t have let the original bill fail on the final days of the last session. No, this is just political window-dressing to justify what they’re really after, your money.
Let’s be real. If this special session gets called, it’s not going to be a taxpayer protection meeting. It’s going to be a taxpayer extraction operation. Your TABOR refund is the target. And they’re getting more brazen about it every year. Remember last year’s special session? Yeah, me neither, because it did absolutely nothing for you, and everything to you.
So what can you do? Get your representatives on speed dial. Call. Email. Show up. Make it loud and clear that any politician who thinks your TABOR refund is a slush fund for their bad decisions will face the wrath of informed, fed-up voters.
Because here’s the bottom line: every time they say “special session,” what they really mean is “special scam.”
Don’t fall for it!
