Dear SCC Members,
First, I would like to apologize for the long email; however, it is imperative for you to read it.
I am writing you today to share my perspective and the facts that must be considered regarding the sham meeting on 08/24/2024, at which a phony group of officers was elected to serve as Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Secretary of the Colorado Republican Party.
This meeting has been ruled invalid not only by the Colorado Republican Executive Committee but also by our parliamentarian, the RNC's parliamentarian, and every logical Republican in our state.
The case of Dave Derangement Syndrome that is plaguing the fringe minority of our Party is unbearable and untenable any longer.
In recent days, we have seen a phony chairman parading around the state, claiming the title of state GOP chair and spouting blatant falsehoods about Chairman Williams and the other members of the officer team.
These statements include but are not limited to stating that Dave is responsible for the lack of Trump Signs, Literature, and campaign activities in the state, that the true leadership is not working with our general election candidates, and that the Party is failing and crumbling.
First, I'd like to talk about the claims regarding the President's campaign.
Back in June, Team Trump decided, against the wishes of the state party leadership, to pull funding, campaign staff, and any and all resources from Colorado as we have been moved to Tier Two Swing State Status.
What is a Tier Two Swing State?
A Tier Two Swing State is a former swing state that helped decide the presidential election in the past. Tier Two States are no longer in close contention for either Party but tend to vote the same way in Presidential Races.
In 2015, the swing states that helped determine the Presidential Election included Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, Virginia, and Florida. Fast forward to 2024, and the critical swing states that will determine the election are North Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
The Trump campaign calls these Tier One Swing States, states that President Trump must win in part or in totality to secure the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency.
The Trump Campaign and the Republican National Committee, which are the same now, took a logical approach to allocating resources. They determined that Colorado was not in play for them and decided not to provide Literature, Yard Signs, a Voter Outreach system, and staff except for in CO-08, where the NRCC (National Republican Congressional Committee) is making a play to oust Rep. Yadira Caraveo.
The State Party and Chairman Williams could not change this outcome, but past chairs could if they had allocated resources appropriately to candidates rather than lined their own pockets, as Treasurer Tom Bjorkland and Chairman Williams uncovered after he assumed office in 2023.
Second, the allegation that the Party is not working with our general election candidates.
This allegation is FALSE! The Colorado GOP's Director of Strategic Initiatives, Darcy Shoening, has been leading the Strategic Races Initiative, which targets winnable races in our state. GOP turnout in a Presidential cycle will influence these districts.
There are very few of these districts due to voter registration deficits and the need for county funding for candidates. Only some races can or will receive funding, especially if they are statistically unwinnable.
How is a district determined to be winnable?
Looking at the voter registration deficit, the impact of unaffiliated voters, and past election results can help determine your in-the-bank voters.
If there are not enough in the bank voters you must account for Swing, Weak Republican, or Hard Republican Unaffiliateds in the district. If there are not enough to change the outcome, it is not winnable.
The NRCC is responsible for Congressional races. Not the State Party. The NRCC is investing resources in CO-03 and CO-08 to defend CO-03 and retake CO-08. The State Party must refrain from competing with the resources of a national party apparatus. However, it has been helping as it can.
In many cases, it is not the Party refusing to work with candidates; it's entirely in reverse. Many candidates refuse to work with Chairman Williams due to petty personal disagreements. The Party has been trying to win, and the candidates have opted to refrain from working with them in those efforts.
Third, the claim that our Party is crumbling and falling apart.
With this interparty Civil War, how could it not?
Even in the face of this infighting, the Colorado Republican Party has still outperformed prior administrations in Fundraising and dedication to electing conservatives. Since January 2023, the Colorado Republican Party has raised over $1,348,805.00.
As of 7/31/24, the Colorado GOP had close to $500,000.00 in cash on hand, with no debt or loans. That is compared to when Chairman Williams took office in 2023 when we had just $14,000.00 in Cash on Hand and over $40,000 in debt from the prior administration.
It is also worth noting that when Chairman Williams took over, the establishment donors of the past deserted him. I know because I was there as Transition Team Director and then subsequently Project Manager until I stepped down in November of 2023.
The current administration rebuilt our donor base over six months of hard work and dedication. They engaged small-dollar donors to supplement the lack of major donors to the Party as they refused to work with the Chairman.
After all of these claims, the silver-tongued individuals leading this charge opted to install a washed-up establishment leadership team: Eli Bremer, Brita Horn, and Kevin McCarney. All of them have repeatedly lost primary or inter-party races due to their anti-Trump background and establishment astroturf roots.
These individuals are out of touch and have no current knowledge of Colorado's political landscape, the Republican National Committee's current plans, or Team Trump's.
The nail in the coffin of this attempted coup is that the Republican National Committee does not recognize this new leadership team as legitimate. These same individuals orchestrated a similar effort in El Paso County several years ago. They lost.
The image below is a screenshot of the Republican National Committee's Member Gallery. The party chairman is one of the 168 members of the Republican National Committee. This gallery is constantly updated to reflect vacancies and changes in members.
(Click the image to verify for yourself if you don't believe me)
When Kristina Karamo, the former Chair of the Michigan GOP, was removed in January, the RNC recognized the new leadership immediately and appropriately updated the member gallery within mere hours.
This happened the day before the RNC's Winter Meeting in Las Vegas, which I attended as a Member of the Youth Advisory Council. I saw this happen in real-time while sitting with members of the 168 and the Former Chairwoman.
Yet, over three days later, Chairman Williams is still the only recognized chair of the Colorado GOP by the Republican National Committee.
This is reaffirmed by the fact that the RNC has not issued a statement recognizing Grifter in Chief Eli Bremmer as Chairman.
If you don't believe me, ask the supposed Chairman if he has been sent a gold nametag, business cards, or other stationery provided by the RNC,a login to the RNC Member Services portal, or the coveted 168 member pin. He has not.
In Conclusion;
Folks, we cannot and will not fall for this bogus attempt to oust our duly elected grassroots champion, Chairman Dave Williams.
I have been friends with Dave Williams for many years, and I can say without a doubt that he is a man of deep character and convictions and is by far the best ally we have as Colorado Republicans in the fight to retake our state.
I look up to Dave, I respect Dave, and I will always fight for my friends as they have fought for me when these establishment figures have launched baseless attacks on me and my family.
I will continue to be a vocal advocate for not only Dave Williams but Hope Scheppelman and Anna Ferguson as they fight this illegal, attempted coup that has plagued our party for three months now.
If you have further questions or wish to speak to me directly, please use the contact information below to reach me.
In case you missed my email on 8/24/2024 about the illegal meeting that took place, I have attached it below for you to look over.
I hope you will join me in resisting this sham and standing up for what is right, true, and just.
Let's put our differences aside and unite in the name of Victory and win in 2024. Re-org is just a few months away, we can sort out our differences then.
Please consider the facts presented to you. I urge you to choose to be on the right side of history and stand with Dave Williams, Hope Scheppelman, and Anna Ferguson.
Sincerely,
Weston D. Imer
