Well, well, well, ladies and gentlemen of Douglas County, gather around for the latest in political comedy, or should I say political tragedy. The Colorado House Republicans have just decided that the best way to lead their caucus into the future is by electing... wait for it... Anthony Hartsook as their Caucus Chair. Yes, you heard that right, Anthony Hartsook, or as I've heard people calling him now, Tony Hardsuck.
Let's unpack this gem of a decision. Here's a guy who, in his first term, didn't just vote against his party; he voted for a Democrat Speaker of the House when there was a perfectly good Republican alternative. And if you thought that was a one-off, think again. Fast forward to the recent mayoral race in Parker, and who does he back? Not the GOP candidate, but some unaffiliated Marxist. Incumbent Jeff Toborg might as well have been wallpaper for all the support he got from Tony "The Traitor" Hardsuck.
Now, let's talk about the absurdity of this move. The GOP in Colorado is like a ship in stormy seas, and what do they do? They appoint Captain Hardsuck to navigate. This is about more than leadership; it's about the integrity, or the severe lack thereof, of our party's direction at the Statehouse.
And then there's Max Brooks, the new face of HD 45, who nominated Hardsuck. Max, what were you thinking? Did you think this was a good idea, or did you want to see how fast the grassroots conservatives could go from cheering to jeering? Because let me tell you, Max, my hopes for you were high, but now you've got every conservative watchdog in the state setting up camp to watch your every move. Enjoy.
Minority Leader: Representative Rose Pugliese, Liberty Score – 62
Assistant Minority Leader: Representative Ty Winter, Liberty Score – 73
Minority Whip: Representative Ryan Armagost, Liberty Score – 71
Caucus Chair: Representative Anthony Hartsook, Liberty Score – 68
So here we are, with leadership that seems to think playing nice with Democrats and betraying party lines is the path to success (the RINO way). But remember, dear grassroots conservatives of Douglas County, in two years, it's election time again, and this time, we'll be ready. We'll keep our eyes peeled, our notes detailed, and our voices loud. Because if this is the best the Colorado House Republicans can do, we might need to start looking for a lifeboat.
For just finishing an election, we've got a lot of work to do.
